INSTRUCTOR TRAINING


Start your Instructor journey with us. Whether you're starting as an assistant instructor, jumping into a Dinghy Instructor course or honing your skills on instructor endorsements we’re here to help you through the process so you're all set to join us on the water as part of the team. Taking the first steps in the instructor world

The Assistant Instructor (AI) course will enable you to assist qualified instructors at the club you will be teaching at. You will be taught to assist with beginner courses up to National Sailing Scheme level 2 and Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 3. AI is a 2-day course.

Pre- requisites: Good sailing level and completed an advanced module from the RYA National Sailing Scheme or equivalent experience. Please email or call us if you are unsure if this is the correct course for you.


Dinghy Instructor Pre-Entry

Pre-assessment is a 1-day assessment. This is a practical sailing day assessing whether you have the sailing skills necessary to become a dinghy instructor. The Pre-entry needs to be completed within 1 year of the Dinghy Instructor course. Duration: 1 Day

Pre- requisites: Confident to complete the 'Pre-Entry Skills'. See the RYA's website for details or email or call us for more information on the skills required. The pre-entry skills can also be found in the RYA (G14) instructors handbook.


Dinghy Instructor Course

A 5-day course for those who are ready to dive into their instructor journey. You will spend a week learning how to get your enthusiasm for the sport across to your future students.

Pre-requisites: First Aid certificate, Pre-entry certificate, Safe And Fun course certificate, RYA Powerboat level 2. You can attend the course if you have not completed all the prerequisites but they must be completed before your instructor qualification will be sent to the RYA.


Bespoke instructor training

Spend some time with an experienced RYA Senior Instructor or Coach Assessor to develop your skills. The sessions will be tailored to you or your group. Contact us to arrange a time and date.
